Cute and cozy ambiance, disappointing food. We stopped by for lunch and loved sitting in the caboose with its rustic feel. The food unfortunately was a real letdown. The spinach artichoke dip was cold when it arrived and not very flavorful, the bread on my BLT was falling apart and had no condiments on it (they gave me some mayo packets to add myself), the quesadilla was okay and the tortilla chips were really bland. Our order was also delivered to the wrong table at first, and the waitress was incredulous when we corrected her.

It's worth checking out for the atmosphere, but maybe go for the ice cream or coffee and not the mains.

Great food, great view and excellent customer service. Kandi was a really nice to us and really helpful. You can have a nice view of the train when departing or arriving while you are enjoying a cup of coffee or having a tasty breakfast. The burger was excellent. Thanks again Kandi

My friend and I are big fans of cafes and we spotted this on google maps as we were searching for places for lunch.

We are not local and were shell-shocked at the prices this place charged for food. In a city that has an average per capita income of $27,000 per year [source: census.gov], how does a business charge $22 for a sandwich and chips or $16 for a burrito? An average citizen here has to work 2 hours to afford a meal here.

The food was bland and the chicken was dry. I could not believe how little flavor everything had. The mocha tasted just like milk and was not good. It would be one thing if the food and drinks were tasty, but this was such a disappointing experience.

The staff was friendly and the trains looked cool. We were the only patrons on Tuesday just after 12, so we did not experience the long wait times mentioned by other peers. I would recommend coming for the atmosphere and maybe souvenirs, but not for food.

On our travel excursion across the country we found this unique little restaurant in a train engine. They have a separate dining room that is in a train engine and plenty of outside seating. We had the taco trio and bottles of soda pop. The chicken tacos were my favorite but the beef was good, as well. The tacos had plenty of toppings including pickled onions which I love. The soda brought back memories of having a soda pop as a child. If I’m the area, you should definitely try them out.

WARNING! I ate here before my train ride and started feeling extremely sick with nausea and stomach pain an hour later, halfway through the train ride. On my way back to CO Springs, I felt nauseous still and had to pullover multiple times. After arriving, I threw up twice and went to urgent care the next morning. I called this cafe to let them know I got sick after eating their food and they never called me back after taking my number down nor did the person I talk to take me seriously. I had to cut my trip 3 days short, spend extra money, and fly home because of how ill I got and I was not even offered a refund by this place. It has now been 3 days and I haven’t been able to eat anything besides crackers and fluids. I do not recommend at all.

Absolutely fantastic food. We had five different breakfast items, with coffee, tea, and juice, and everything was perfect. We sat inside the train car and since there are only two small booths our family took up the entire seating area but the experience added to the enjoyment. The crepes were artistic and prestented beautifully.

The only improvement I'd suggest is to update the online menu. I'm trying to get my kids and my mother to select their items ahead of time so they don't spend a lot of time milling around indecisively when we get to restaurants, and then it's difficult if nothing they wanted is available.

There were pros and cons but I am giving this place five stars. Pros were that the Bloody Mary was delicious and the Southwest wrap was delicious. Another pro is the atmosphere. Eating in a nice air conditioned caboose was fun. A con was that in the caboose there are no napkins and no salt and pepper shakers. The waiter never did come back and check on me after they brought my food. Luckily, I had a napkin in my purse. I had received my Bloody Mary first and it did not have bacon like the menu specified. So, when they brought my food, I did ask for a piece of bacon and they brought it after questioning me, but I had taken a picture of the menu and showed them where it said garnished with bacon. 🙂
It wasn't until after that that I realized I didn't have a napkin. And I didn't want to get up and walk back over into the other caboose to ask for one since I realized I had one in my purse.

Great place to grab a bite to eat and a drink if you are going to ride the Royal Gorge train. You order inside and sit in an outside dining area. We ordered drinks, alcoholiic and nonalcoholic, crepes, and ice cream. The drinks and food items were amazing. Only complaint was there was only one employee that was making drinks and desserts. He was amazing but overwhelmed with how many order he had to make. Consequently, the wait was quite long. Also, please fix the air conditioning in the caboose so your employees and work more comfortably.
