Gene Taylor's is well-known in the Gunnison valley for having great prices on ski clothes, winter sports gear, and ski equipment rentals. If you're willing to make the trip to Gunny instead of paying a premium on the mountain, your wallet will thank you. Case in point, when I last visited a month ago, their daily rates for cross-country classic ski rentals were 60% less than in Crested Butte. Another great thing is that single day ski rentals can be returned until 10am the following day, so you can spend your whole day out skiing without feeling like you need to rush your rentals back before closing time. I've rented and purchased ski equipment here for 8 years now, and on my last visit, they were as kind and helpful as always-- they even swapped out my skis at the register when I noticed they were skin skis (I prefer scales). Luckily, they stock a variety of ski types to choose from, and at an unbeatable price.

I have purchased several guns from Gene Taylor's. This is a great local gun shop or..... really.... anything to do with the outdoors. They have a vast assortment of new and used guns ready to go. Associates who know the ever changing gun laws and are a pleasure to deal with. Cody is the associate who has helped me order and bring in anything I need, whether it's accessories or new guns. Gene Taylor’s is a great local shop. Have gotten some great deals from them and they helped me repair my board after the tip was ripped off by a rock. Considering the damage the repair feels great and solid and should let me get a few more seasons out of this board. And only $10 - their labor rates are priced fantastically.

Need to rent or buy ski equipment - look no further! The staff is incredible - Hannah, Zack and Brenden were attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. We rented skis, bought new boots, and had all are friends and family rent gear. My demo skies were top notch and fun to hit the slopes with. The value is unbeatable too. I am an elk hunter so I'm very particular about who I let work on my bow. I called and talked to a guy named Tristan and he quickly gained my confidence that he could fix my bow and do it right. It's not too often people go above and beyond anymore That's why I'm writing this review. Not only was my bow fixed correctly.He cited in the 20-yard pin before I got there to pick it up . Also he let me chrono how fast it was shooting when I got there. I travel 2 hours to get there when I left I could not have been happier Great store great guy great service.
