We have been coming to Ben and team for several years, and this Christmas he sourced the most beautiful steaks for us we have ever seen. They are an amazing local butcher, and we can’t recommend them enough. If they don’t have what you are looking for, there is a good chance they can source it.

Ordered the Boar the night before and got there and was a quick pick-up (40 minute drive to get there). I actually asked if he could cut me another pound and was able to cut it up and get me out in 5 minutes.

Service was quick and a pleasant experience.

Definitely coming back and will always keep this spot in mind if I need exotic meats or cuts.

We make it a point to visit Ben as often as possible. A wealth of information, his experiences, and his world travels have added to the experience of visiting the "butcher." Being a chef is several countries, and mastering his trade from various regions translates is reminiscent of a shopping experience in Italy or Spain. Ok, the cuts are also healthy, top-notch, and ready for the grill. Just go and enjoy already..

Gambrel & Co. is everything you could want from a quality butcher. High quality meats, a wide variety of products, knowledgeable preparation of cuts and other ingredients, and helpful advice on what to get and even how to make it. They even sell salts, rubs, sauces and imported French butter! These guys know what’s what. Some earlier reviewers mention a bad attitude, but I’ve only ever had pleasant and helpful customer service here - Ben rocks!

Been going to Gambrel for the past 4-5 months and have became a regular customer, going on a weekly basis to get all my meat and spending a pretty penny to do so. The meat quality is amazing, can’t deny that. The reason for my poor review comes down to the attitude of the butcher. He’s horribly rude almost every time I go in to pick up, and even ruder when I call an order in. I thought that his attitude may change over time and being a regular/returning customer, but I was wrong. I’ve dealt with his poor attitude time and time again, but one can only take so much. After my last exchange I was so appalled that I’ll be going elsewhere to get my high quality meats. Dealing with the attitude just isn’t worth it to me anymore and there are plenty of other options for high quality meats in the bay area.

Ben’s selection is top shelf, and has especially great grass fed and heritage options. He makes his own sausage and they are the best you can find on the peninsula. He is friendly, no nonsense and super helpful with selecting and suggesting meat. I miss going into the shop and chatting with him but I’m looking forward to getting back to that after COVID. He’s especially nice to our kids. He is a true connoisseur and gourmet. I’m so grateful to have his shop in RWC.
