Worked for the chamber in 1993. Amazed by the changes. If you're a rock hound, get the book A Rock Hounds Guide to Creede by Charles Downing. Yes. He's my father in law ( more like a dad) and he has crawled over and under every inch of mineral county! Check out the shale on the other side of the airport road. You will find a fossil if you're patient!

They answered ALL my questions and gave me good advice! So very helpful! They told me how far I could drive with only 2 wheel drive on the Bachelor Loop, recommended a great restaurant, and directed us to an excellent National Forest campground. They gave me great maps and information.

I'd like to know why booking fees for hotels/lodging in your town are so high?! The price says 90/night on one of the properties but when I went to reserve it it charged me a property fee and an additional fee that exceed the daily rate. Where does this money go? I think this hurts your economy because now I'm reconsidering booking a weekend vacation there because I don't feel like paying such high fees; it's not like the properties are mega resorts with high end amenities. What's the point of getting a good rate on a hotel if I'm going to get charged twice as much for additional feast that don't really represent where they go?

Kathleen (name might be slightly different... it's been a while) was very kind and helpful and helped my sister get set up on the Wifi when she had homework to do. She knows her stuff, and can help you find whatever experience it is you're looking for. If she doesn't know something, she certainly will know where or whom to point you to in order to find out!
