While visiting friends and family in LA, I stumbled upon a little coffee shop that instantly caught my eye. Drawn in by the color scheme and the crowd, I decided to check it out, and I’m so glad I did!

Based on local recommendations, I started with a Vanela Panilla Latte (house-made vanilla bean and panela syrup) with Morro cream on top. This drink was delicious — each sip was a sweet, mouthwatering treat that left me craving more. If you have a sweet tooth, this is a must-try.

Next, I tried the Jocote Tonic (espresso, tonic water, and house-made jocote jam with actual jocote fruit). The first sip was a burst of fruity flavor, perfect for a sunny day. The drink is refreshing, and the real jocote fruit at the end is a bonus.

For food, I ordered the Bolo Pollo and the Bolo Burger. The Bolo Pollo featured a soft, crumbly Chinese pineapple bun paired with a spicy Korean-style fried chicken thigh and kimchi. It’s like a Nashville hot chicken sandwich but with a Korean twist—perfect for spice lovers. The Bolo Burger, with its French onion and hatch chili patty, sharp cheddar, and Chifa Aji sauce, was equally impressive. The flavors blended extremely well, and the shoestring fries on the side were the perfect complement.

The shop’s outdoor patio area in the back where you can relax or get some work done is inviting. What makes this place even more unique is the that there’s also a bar tucked away in the back.

I was so impressed that I bought two more Vanela Panilla Lattes—one to enjoy again, and another for the road. I also couldn’t resist taking home a bag of their Cipota Coffee to recreate the experience at home, or at least try too.

This place is more than just a cafe — it’s an experience. Whether you’re a coffee lover or just looking for a unique spot to relax and enjoy some great food, I highly recommend trying this place. It’s a hidden gem in LA that I’ll be returning to!

I was recommended to try the Bolo Breakfast sandwich. I chose to add a Salvadoran chorizo patty. This sandwich is served on Chinese pineapple buns. It's slightly sweet, and big, golden and flaky like a regular biscuit- the sweet is a little surprise. The sausage was also great, not too greasy. The aji verde sauce is usually served with lunch options but please ask for it on anything and everything!

For coffee, I had the El Morro cold brew. It was so sweet and had a real kick to it.

Bjork exhibit photos are inside and outside all over, too. As a Bjork Djork, I could not pass up the opportunity to view this exhibit. There's seating inside and outside in the back patio area. There's also a bar at the back, and a there is a restroom for customers and also free water.

My new favorite coffee shop! Perfect to stop on the way to downtown or the East Side. Such an adorable atmosphere with a surprisingly large back patio. I will definitely choose Arroz for coffee dates, meetings, and hangs of all kinds.

I haven’t stopped talking about the Chocobanano mocha!! Shannon got the El Morro and wow! The cream was out of this world. So heavenly.

Coming back as often as I can to try all of the drinks and the vegetarian food options ❤️

The back patio area is gorgeously arranged. I sit back there for hours from time to time enjoying all of the Salvi/Chinese fusion delicacies. The bolo bao breakfast sandwich and smash burgers are incredible. Remember to ask for the breakfast sandwich Leo style. Also, they serve the best single origin coffee in LA. Cipota Coffee is the female owned coffee company sold exclusively at Arroz & Fun. 10/10

And the folks who work here are so nice ❤️ thank you for the fries and the delicious food you really made our day

My boyfriend had heard about this place through Instagram and was very excited because he's Salvadorian. He really wanted to try out the coffee and food. We got there early after hiking, so the place had plenty of seats. They have a couple of 2 seaters on the inside, and then more space on their patio. To clarify, this place isn't owned by Salvadorians. They use a coffee brand that is Salvadorian owned. The food, though, is a mixture of Asian, and Salvadorian, which is pretty cool. We each got a breakfast sandwich and some churros. Need to come back and try more.

We got the Chocobanano Mocha and El Morro to drink - both really unique tastes! The standout dish was the breakfast bolo with the Salvadoran chorizo patty. We will definitely be coming back for that breakfast bolo! The vibe in the outdoor seating area is really great, too.
